Volunteer Society Nepal : The best experience for volunteers, the best value for Nepal.

Mrs. Kesley’s Physiotherapy Volunteering Program with Volunteer Society Nepal

Volunteering is not merely an act of charity; it’s a journey of self-discovery, cultural immersion, and making a tangible impact on the lives of others. Mrs. Kesley, a passionate physiotherapist from Canada, embarked on an unforgettable two-week physiotherapy volunteering in Nepal with Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN). Her journey was not just about enhancing her professional skills but also about experiencing the vibrant culture of Nepal and leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and service.

Day One: Immersion in Nepali Language and Culture:

Mrs. Kesley’s journey began with a deep dive into Nepali language and culture. Under the guidance of Sushil, an experienced Nepali language teacher, she immersed herself in intensive language classes. From learning basic greetings to understanding essential phrases for her physiotherapy internship, Mrs. Kesley was determined to bridge the communication gap and connect with the local community. Her enthusiasm set the stage for a truly immersive experience ahead.

Day Two: Exploring Kathmandu’s World Heritage Sites:

The second day was dedicated to exploring the rich cultural heritage of Kathmandu. Mrs. Kesley started her day with visits to VSN’s projects, including the Women’s Empowerment Center, CBIA School, and Disability Center. Witnessing the organization’s impactful work firsthand, she gained insight into the challenges and opportunities facing Nepali communities. Later, she embarked on a guided tour of Kathmandu’s iconic World Heritage sites, such as Swayambhunath Temple and Pashupatinath Temple. Each step deepened her appreciation for Nepal’s spiritual and historical treasures.

Day Three Onwards: Physiotherapy Volunteering Program at the Disability Center:

At the Disability Center, Mrs. Kesley’s dedication to making a positive impact shone brightly. With her background in physiotherapy, she immediately got to work providing essential services to individuals with disabilities. From conducting therapy sessions to assisting caregivers in understanding and implementing proper care methods, Mrs. Kesley’s presence brought hope and healing to those in need. Her interactions with the children at the center were particularly heartwarming, as she engaged them in therapy activities, provided academic support, and fostered a sense of inclusion and belonging. Through her tireless efforts, Mrs. Kesley not only improved the physical well-being of the individuals but also uplifted their spirits and inspired them to overcome challenges with resilience and determination.

Transitioning to the Women’s Center:

After her impactful contributions at the Disability Center, Mrs. Kesley transitioned to the Women’s Center, where she continued her mission of empowerment and support. Utilizing her expertise in pelvic health and yoga training, Mrs. Kesley played a pivotal role in promoting women’s health and well-being. Through physiotherapy sessions tailored to address women’s specific needs, she provided relief from pain and discomfort while promoting overall wellness. Additionally, Mrs. Kesley led yoga classes that not only offered physical benefits but also served as a platform for emotional healing and self-discovery. Furthermore, she facilitated workshops on topics such as menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and self-care, empowering women to take charge of their health and make informed choices. Mrs. Kesley’s presence at the Women’s Center was a beacon of strength and support, instilling confidence and resilience in the women she served.
