  • Tej Shrestha: Founder Director

Tej, a native of Salleri, Solukhumubu, completed his schooling in Salleri and pursued higher studies in Kathmandu. After obtaining a degree in Business Management from Tribhuwan University, he gained experience working with various national and international organizations and companies such as banks, United Mission To Nepal (UMN), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as a Nepali Language Trainer and Officer.

While working for ICRC in 2004, Tej Shrestha had a vision to establish Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN), aiming to provide international volunteers with incredible experiences while ensuring maximum benefits for Nepal. Since its establishment, VSN, has successfully placed over 4000 international volunteers from more than 40 different countries.

Motivated by the success of VSN, Tej Shrestha decided to start an academic institution and founded Career Building Int’l Academy (CBIA) in 2008. CBIA currently has more than 1000 students and is known for providing exceptional quality education with outstanding results in national level examinations. In the same year, with the support of Mr. Marcel Vanwersch and Ms. Ankie Lenders from the Netherlands, Tej Shrestha initiated Everest Foundation Nepal. This organization aims to provide education, food, and shelter for 16 orphaned children, as well as sponsorship for underprivileged girls in remote areas of Nepal. Most of the children from the orphanage have now grown up and completed their bachelor’s degrees.

Tej Shrestha also established the Center for Children with Intellectual Disabilities (CCID) to provide special education and daycare facilities for differently abled children. Currently, 25 children receive daily support and food at the center. Recognizing the high illiteracy rates among women in Nepal, Tej Shrestha established a Women’s Center where more than 30 women regularly attend non-formal education programs. This center has been operating for the past 10 years.

With the aim of promoting sustainable, ethical, and responsible tourism, he has also established Real Travel Nepal Pvt. Ltd., a registered tourism company in Nepal.
