Volunteer Society Nepal : The best experience for volunteers, the best value for Nepal.
CCID makes a huge effort to celebrate all festivals. Why? Because these kinds of activities help strengthen the imaginations of our children. We try to fill our children’s lives with smiles and stories. Children with disabilities are often socially isolated in Nepal. We want to change this. We want to share our culture and enjoy simple local delicacies.
In Nepal, “Dashain”, is celebrated from the 21st of September until the 2nd of October. During this festival, maize and barley seeds are sowed in an earthen pot filled with sand and soil. Most Nepali households participate.
On the 22nd of September, CCID organized their own festival celebration. CCID also sowed Barley seeds to germinate in an earthen pot several days ahead of the festival. The children showed a lot of enthusiasm. They were excited to watch the barley seeds grow! Auspicious red “Tika” and small yellow barley plants were offered during the celebration.
Festivals are an extremely important part of Nepali culture. If you would like to volunteer at the same time as a festival, send us an email and we can inform you of the best time to volunteer with us in Nepal.
Besides festivals, our children at CCID need caring, loving and patient volunteers to help with teaching our students. If you interested in helping at CCID please contact us by following the links below!
