Volunteer Society Nepal : The best experience for volunteers, the best value for Nepal.
Ms. Carolien Velzeboer joined Volunteer Society Nepal to volunteer in multiple locations in Nepal. She wanted to volunteer in remote areas. This is because she wanted an experience where there are not many tourists. Carolien is also very flexible in arranging her programs, therefore we gave her several options. She chose to get involved in teaching 2 weeks at the Montessori School. This is a school in the lower mountain region. Caroline also completed a 2 week Lower Solukhumbu Trek. She was very satisfied & happy helping the small children at the school in the remote Everest mountain region. On top of that, she felt wonderful about the trek. She also taught English to the Buddhist Monk children at the monastery in the mountains. Hence, Carlien saw a lot of different places in Nepal!
She posted on her Facebook “Today I could make the Montessori school in Salleri happy with (part of) the donation of my very valued AH Online MT-colleagues. The school with 25 children (18 months to 4 years) has been open for 5 months but still had no / hardly any toys. With (part of) the donation of my highly valued ah online Mt-colleagues today the Montessori school in Salleri can be happy with toys for 25 children (18 months to 4 years). The school has existed for 5 months but still had no toys.”
After returning back to Kathmandu, she showed interest in volunteering at one of the most beautiful and popular places in Nepal, Pokhara. Thus, we arranged her volunteering placement again at a Montessori School in Pokhara city. Since she had some spare time, she also visited and helped the children at CBIA School and Centre for Children with Intellectual Disabilities. These projects are in Kathmandu. Caroline has been working hard to help the small children with lots of educational and fun activities. She felt very comfortable in Pokhara. This is because she loved her homestay. She stayed with a host family mother who is a teacher in the same school. According to Carolien, the hospitality she received from the host families in Salleri, Kathmandu and Pokhara is amazing. She enjoyed helping the schools and traveling around to three different locations: Kathmandu, Salleri and Pokhara.
Thank you Carolien for your wonderful support.
