Volunteer Society Nepal will bring First Lego League to Nepal

Volunteer Society Nepal has joined hands with a group of enthusiastic First Lego League supporters. Together we decided to bring Lego Robotics to Nepal. Last week we had a meeting. The students of the CBIA school played with lego to learn about the opportunities it will bring for the future.
Why Lego to Nepal?

The primary goal of the LEGO® FOR NEPAL project is to introduce students in Nepal to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (in short STEM) and hands-on-learning. Beginning in 2018, the Dutch Edulent Foundation, in collaboration with Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN), will bring new STEM opportunities for children in Nepal. We will begin with a small-scale pilot project at the CBIA school in Kathmandu.

CBIA School and Lego League

Last week 20 kids of the CBIA school learned about First Lego League (FLL). With the help of FLL team coaches, Bhawani Sapkota and Zuhier Qureshi, the kids set up different lego missions. They even programmed a mission robot! In the following movie Angela Wellink, initiator of project ‘Lego for Nepal’ and manager of Edulent foundation in the Netherlands, explains why lego is so important.

Volunteer Society Nepal and the CBIA school have both pledged their commitment to start this project and are looking forward to working together and increasing STEM learning opportunities for children in Nepal.
