Volunteers’ review in Nepal for photography and filming

Volunteer for photography and videography Miss Petra Fruk from Croatia writes about VSN and her experience

What is VSN (Volunteer Society Nepal)?

Founded in 2004 this Nepali humanitarian organization co-ordinates construction, health, environmental, educational and income generating projects throughout economically poor areas of Nepal. These projects provide opportunities for national and international volunteers to assist in the development of Nepal.

You can contribute in so many ways. Teaching English in schools or Buddhist monasteries in Kathmandu, Pokhara or Himalaya region, providing education and care to the disabled children and orphanages or teach English and math to the women at the women center and help them become more independent. You can also volunteer in the Construction Program and help construct basic infrastructure in local communities.

Why I chose VSN?

Firstly, because I wanted to help local Nepali organization who honestly provides care and support to Nepalese people who need it the most. There are many organizations who help Nepal from UK and similar EU countries in which I don’t believe so much. Part of all the money VSN collects from volunteers is invested in project they run throughout all the Nepal.

My work?

I volunteered for photography & videography. How? VSN is looking for volunteer to take photographs and films which can be used in promotional activities for the charity portfolio, fundraising and marketing. Volunteers will be involved in capturing images and film of the local people, area and lifestyle and the activities that VSN has been implementing. You can also help in any of the projects VSN runs. *SOON MY VIDEOS*

Impressions?

For me traveling is all about the people. With VSN I was really a part of their community from the fist day I came to Nepal. Its hard to describe the feeling of being able to help such an amazing and positive people who are materially poor but spiritually one of the richest people in the world! Thank you for showing me what life is all about, I’ll be back! LOVE!
