Donation to the most Poor in the Neighborhood

Last month two tour groups from the Netherlands visited Nepal. When they heard about Volunteer Society Nepal, they made a large donation of items for our good causes. They donated money, different types of clothing, two mobile phones, many pairs of shoes and children’s toys.

Donation of Clothes

Volunteer Society Nepal has redistributed the clothes and other items into four bags. Each bag contained different types of clothing, shoes, socks, soaps, pens and a mobile phone or a good coat. With those four bags we went to the closest slum area. Four families received the donations. We made sure that the bags were handed to the mothers, as they would surely know what to do with these items.

Donation of Money

Some individuals chose to donate money to Volunteer Society Nepal. We promised them that the money would be put to good use.

Taking all the projects into account, we have decided that the money would go to:

• 100 euro to the fundraising campaign: Help bring disabled children from lock-up to day-care! For this campaign, we are collecting money to buy a van or mini-bus. The bus will make sure that disabled children can go to school, and not locked up at home.
• 25 euro for stationary items for the Women Center. We will buy pens and notebooks for their classes.
• 25 euro for the center for children with disabilities. We will buy toys, drawing items and handicraft items.

Donation of Toys

After the school holidays, Volunteer Society Nepal will give multiple toys and handicraft tools to the Center for Children with Disabilities. VSN will store extra toys and materials at the office. This is due to toys breaking easily and materials used fast. The centre will gradually receive the toys.
