Volunteer Society Nepal : The best experience for volunteers, the best value for Nepal.

Volunteering in Pokhara

Pokhara is the adventure capital of Kathmandu and a great place to volunteer. There are many volunteer opportunities in Pokhara. During your stay, volunteers stay at one of our amazing homestays called Rekhas Home. The city of Pokhara is a beautiful place; volunteers can enjoy the Nepali culture and test their courage and endurance with tourist activities such as paragliding, mountain biking and trekking.

Medical Volunteer in Pokhara

Lisa French, a physiotherapist from Austria, has recently completed her three-week volunteer placement. She enjoyed working at the local Fishtail hospital. The Fishtail Hospital is located just a five-minute walk from the homestay. A medical placement in Pokhara is one of VSN’s most popular programs. Iris Jansen, a medical student from The Netherlands also started her medical placement. She is completing a medical elective clerkship at the Western Regional Hospital in November.

Many Placements to Choose From

First of all, Pokhara has much to offer in terms of placements. It is also beautiful. Since Pokhara is so naturally blessed, many volunteers enjoy their placements in Pokhara. A Dutch couple, Jos & Willemien are also enjoying volunteering in Pokhara. They recently completed their volunteer placement at a monastery in Salleri. They are now teaching at the Early Childhood Montessori School in Pokhara. Peggy Baltes from Germany is also volunteering at the school. She is a sports teacher, therefore she teaches the children P.E. She also helps with maintenance work.

Tanja Vlyder, a physiotherapist from Belgium is volunteering at the Disabled Children Care Centre. She recently finished the Annapurna Base Camp Trek with VSN. Trekking is also a great way to experience Nepal! Nona Lore Keiren started teaching at Growing Bud Montessori School. Cristina Travan from Australia will soon join her on 6th of November after her work at Centre for Children with Intellectual Diasbilities in Kathmandu. Overall, there are many placements to choose from with volunteers distributed throughout the projects in Pokhara. We would love more volunteers to join us to create a long term sustainable change in Nepal.

Our host family, the school managements and all other placements take great care of our the volunteers. Most importantly, Rekha takes great care of you and treats you as a member of her own family.
