Centre for Children with Intellectual Disabilities Celebrates Children’s day!

Children’s day or “Bal Divas” honours Nepali children and minors and is celebrated in Nepal on the 14th of September. We celebrated with the children at the Centre for Children with Intellectual Disabilities (CCID). The children, teachers and volunteers played various games to make the day truly special and memorable.

Mr. Jos de Klein and Ms. Willemien de Klein are two volunteers from the Netherlands. They helped us to care and celebrate with the children on this special day. Therefore, we had balloons, played games and enjoyed delicious Nepali momo’s!

We would like to thank our volunteers Mr. Jos de Klein and Ms. Willemien de Klein for making such a memorable day. It would have been difficult to organize without out and we are very thankful for their time and dedication.

What is Children’s Day?

This is the day that children get full freedom to enjoy and play. It is a special day for the children because this day reminds everyone to look after the welfare of the children. To make this day memorable for the children, many seminars, meetings, sports, fairs etc., are organized about welfare and growth. Thus, many schools organize competitions and tournaments.

About Centre for Children with Intellectual Disabilities

CCID aims to provide care and education to children with disabilities. Children with disabilities are often socially excluded in Nepali society. We want to change this. We are also funding for a bus to pick the children up for their homes to bring them to the centre. This way, more children can attend.

We also need volunteers to assist looking after the children. It can be hard work for the teachers at the centre. Volunteers can help by assisting the teachers with day to day care of the children. With volunteers, we are also able to take the children on day trips!
